What is Reiki?

The Usui System of Reiki Healing is a palms-on healing practice. Reiki is an ancient laying-on-of-palms healing technique that uses the Universal life force energy to balance the subtle energies within our bodies and to heal. Reiki practitioners act as a conduit or channel through which Reiki energy travels. The intended result of receiving Reiki is a balanced physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual being. Reiki is being used today in clinics and hospitals all over the world to support health, wellness and transition. Please note that my Reiki practice is generally a hands-on healing practice. While there is a protocol of hand positions, I also work intuitively as to where to place my hands and which hands positions to use. My hands will rest lightly on your body and there is no manipulation of your body. If, at any time, you are uncomfortable, I can switch positions, or use the floating hands method. There is no difference in the benefit experienced by the placement of my hands on your body versus floating my hands over your body. Should you desire to alternate positions during the treatment, please feel free to ask me to do so. What happens during a Reiki treatment?

During a Reiki treatment, you will lay fully clothed on a massage table, covered in a blanket if you choose, listening to soothing music. Your Reiki practitioner will lay their hands on your body in a series of hand positions to deliver Reiki energy. A Reiki treatment generally covers first your head then the front of your body and finally the back of your body either by lying or sitting.

What does Reiki feel like?

Reiki tends to feel warm and profoundly relaxing. You may feel the hands of the Reiki practitioner become hot or tingly. Some people describe a floating sensation and some see colors or shapes during the session. Some people fall asleep. Some experience emotional release. There is no expected experience- Reiki treatment is unique for each individual who receives it. The most common results of Reiki treatment include: • Perceived reduction in stress • Increased relaxation • Enhanced sense of balance, centeredness and calm.

What are the benefits of several sessions?

Just like meditation, or movement arts, the effects of Reiki are cumulative. While one session can work wonders, repeated, regular Reiki treatments can invite significant improvement. As an example: if you exercise for an hour, you will receive benefit. If you exercise every day for a month, the results will be much more profound. Reiki works similarly – regular sessions support well-being in every way.

Can Reiki “cure” me?

Reiki is a complementary medical art that works well alone as well as in concert with other treatments. Healing is often the result of gentle shifts in awareness, release of emotional patterns, achievement of new understanding, and daily practice. Reiki is not a replacement for traditional medical treatment.

Reiki is the art of healing, not the practice of medicine. Reiki is intended to be a supplement to, and not a substitute for, professional medical care and treatment. In the case of any serious medical ailment or condition, you should always consult your doctor for advice.

Reiki practitioners should never diagnose, perform medical treatment, make any medical claims, offer any guarantees, prescribe therapies, remedies or medication, or interfere with any form of treatment prescribed by a license medical professional. I will endeavor to do my very best to help you, but I cannot offer any guarantee of success.

As the client you will always be treated with the utmost respect and integrity. Confidentiality is an underpinning principle and you can be assured that all personal data and information will be kept safe, complete, and private at all times, both during treatment and afterwards.

Terms & Conditions

I need your phone and/or email address to contact you regarding scheduled Reiki/Energetic Healing appointments. Mailing address is collected for failure of payment purposes. I audio record all sessions for my protection and yours. I send a copy to the email provided on the intake form unless you state to send it to a different email address. It will be sent within 48 hours of the session.

Payment is due when services are rendered unless other arrangements have been made prior to my appointment. I will give 24 hour notice when possible if I cannot keep a future appointment.

Any services requested either online or in my office must be paid for prior to the service(s) being performed. By purchasing one or more of my services you agree to provide the necessary information in order for me to perform those services.  You also agree that the transaction for a service does not begin until I have all needed information and the transaction will be considered complete once the service is performed and/or any files/documents have been delivered to you.  I reserve the right to request additional information or clarification if needed prior to delivery of any files/documents.  The minimum information required is noted below in my privacy policy.Energetic Healing sessions purchased online through my shop are coordinated fairly quickly. I will usually contact you within 24 hours to arrange an agreed upon date and time for your session and obtain any information needed.  Sessions in my office are by prior arrangement only unless otherwise agreed upon.

Cancellation Policy Life happens: If you need to miss your appointment please call or email us (206-487-3339, [email protected]) as soon as you know that you will miss your scheduled appointment. Your consideration allows us to manage our schedules. We encourage a 24 hour notice if you cannot keep an appointment. $0 is charged if you call to cancel 24 hours in advance of your appointment. The price of the full scheduled visit will be charged if you do not call and do not show up for your appointment.
