A Mini Masterclass in Gratitude
Being thankful every day can have an immense benefit to our quality of life. It will come as a surprise to you that gratitude is among the most overlooked tools which we can all access every day. Being grateful will not cost you any money and it will also not take much of your time and the best thing is that the benefits are enormous. If you could take the next 30 days and practice incorporating gratitude into your abundance practice, there’s no limit to the upgrade you’re going to receive in your life. I know this can sound too good to be true so I’ll break it down. Here are some of my favorite benefits to practicing daily Gratitude:
It makes us happier
Being grateful makes us feel good and it also helps us to notice what is good in our lives instead of the bad ones. This, in turn, helps us to develop positive feelings about ourselves and our life. According to research by Robert Emmons, gratitude raises our level of happiness and can make you feel better about your life as a whole.
It improves relationships
According to a study, gratitude not only means good manners, but it also shows that it can help users to make new friends. This means if you acknowledge someone that helps you out with a certain project or finances, and opens doors to new opportunities.
Improves our resilience
Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from a stressful situation or setbacks. Grateful people easily see the bigger picture and they identify the positive in their lives and they look for more social support. This means they will not allow bad events to pull them down and they are more likely to grow during stressful situations.
Improves our self-esteem
You are going to be aware of what other people do for you when you are grateful. This means you will feel loved and cared for and then feel better about yourself which will, in turn, improve your self-esteem.
Sleep improvement
Positive emotions such as gratitude help in activating the parasympathetic nervous system also known as the relaxation response while negative emotions activate the sympathetic nervous system also known as the fight or flight response. This shows that gratitude can help in increasing the sleeping quality and duration.
It makes us a more compassionate and kinder
People that do keep gratitude journals feel closer and more connected to others and they will be willing to help others. This means that when you are more grateful, you will be more likely to help others and also relieve their suffering.
Helps to achieve more goals
According to a study, people that keep gratitude journals usually progress on their goals than people in the control group. This shows that gratitude is quite different from laziness as it helps to work more on our goals and self.
I hope you plan on incorporating some of these techniques into your daily life!
