3 Ways to Change Bad Habits Easily

yashica crumpton

Last week I gave you some areas in your life that you could think about making some major changes in order to make this year your best year yet. Today I want to talk to you about 3 easy ways you can integrate into your life to change bad habits

  1. Think about something that you want to change in your life. Now I want you to think about one small thing that you can do in order to change that habit.  Not the habit that you picked but if you broke that habit into small chunks, pick one of the chunks and write it down. Once you have done this, I want you to develop a challenge for yourself. I want you to track your progress for 30 days and at the end of that time, I want you to assess your progress. Did you hit your goal 80% of the time. If so reward yourself with a reward you predetermined. If not determined what stopped you and adjust. Then repeat for another 30 days. If you can repeat this cycle at least 2 times, you are more likely to make the change a new habit. I have a link to a habit tracker that I have created for you to get started on changing one of your bad habits. All you have to do is download it and fill it out and get to work on eliminating that which does not serve you. The link will be in the video description.

  2. As humans, we are wired to conserve energy so know that as you try to change a habit, it’s going to take a lot of effort to make a small change permanent. This does not mean that it has to be hard. The purpose of recognizing this is that there will be resistance to changing old habits, that is natural and it does take time to rewire or rewrite patterns in our life. With that being said, focus on thinking about positive things that you can use to replace a habit so that during the period of rewiring while you are going through the transformation, you are killing 2 birds with one stone by also integrating a new habit at the same time.

  3. Stop trying to do things alone and invest in a support network. Stop looking for support from people that aren’t in alignment with you and stop getting mad when they don’t want to support you. They don’t have to. At the same time, that doesn’t mean that you have to do things alone when you feel like its hard to change your life for the better. In this information age there are so many groups of likeminded people that form supportive communities in order to help you create a better life for yourself. Stop acting scared and white knuckling it and be vulnerable for once. Join one. Or invest in a coach or a counselor. Many times we let the cost of working with a professional deter us from investing in ourself and continue down the same old crappy road stuck in the same place we were year after year and month after month. The problem is you are wasting your most valuable resource…. Your time…. And when you work with someone that can help you hack your life and see results quickly, nine times out of ten, you get your investment back and then some. Some of yall will put $10-$20 in a slot machine or go out to buy a drink or treat yourself to all this shit that has no value in your life but when it comes to something that can change the trajectory of your life in a powerful way, you fail to step up. Let 2020 be the year you stop that and invest in a qualified professional to help you take your life to the next level. I don’t know of a truly successful person that has done it alone. I have 3 spots left this month so if you want to work with me, I will leave my info below.
